Frequently Asked Questions

What is the formula for Celsius to Fahrenheit?
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Reverse: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.
What is Kelvin?
Kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature. 0K is absolute zero (the coldest possible temperature). K = °C + 273.15 — there are no negative Kelvin values.
What is Rankine?
Rankine (°R) is used in some US engineering fields. Like Kelvin it starts at absolute zero, but uses Fahrenheit-sized degrees. °R = °F + 459.67.
